#NewRelease – Pine River by: Tijan

Pine River by Tijan is now live!

Pine River was supposed to be a new start for me.

And it was, especially attending school with my three overprotective cousins, who were the triplets at the top of the social hierarchy.
Except they weren’t alone there, and the first day when I came to school, I saw him.

Scout Raiden.
Tall. Lean. Tattooed. Mesmerizing.
He was a golden god with dark and piercing eyes—looking like he wanted to eat me up.

The feeling was mutual, and that was a problem.
It was lust-want-must have-loathing-hate all at once. I was affected.
And I couldn’t have that. No way.
Not after what I’d just left in Cedra Valley.

I didn’t care how much money his uncle had.
I didn’t care that it seemed every girl wanted him.
I didn’t care about his reputation as an up-and-coming fighter.
Or the promise of how those hands would make me feel.

What I did care about was staying as far away from Scout as possible.
Because the promise of his presence, the heat that was going to turn the light back on in my world wasn’t a promise at all.
It was a threat.

I wasn’t going to survive Scout Raiden.

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I received a copy of this audio book from the publisher via NetGalley.

I was so excited when I received this audio book because I loved this story so far and needed to know how it all ends.  I have to say I don’t think I could ever get enough of Kash and Bailey.  The narrators, Emma Galvin and Joe Arden, were amazing also their voices captured each character perfectly. Between the story line and the voices of Emma and Joe I didn’t not want to stop this book at any time.  I had to keep going to find our what was in store next for Kash and Bailey.

My heart was breaking for Bailey at the beginning of this. Losing her mother was heartbreaking but having to watch her mother being murdered was horrendous. With everything that this woman has went through was awful to say the least. I loved Kash for his understanding of everything even of Bailey. The way he supported her, loved her and most of all new what she needed to overcome all this made my heart beat a bit faster for him.

UHG the secrets that this family held and didn’t let out had me on the edge of my seat. Really the twists and turns never stopped. Once you figured out the players and what may happen BOOM everything changed. There were plot twist after plot twist.  There was always something lurking waiting to come out and blow everything you thought was happening and why right out of the water.  I loved this family how they stick together and help one another even if they don’t want or need help they are always there.  The ending was the best to see how everything played out and how things ended.  Let me tell you I could never have expected how this all ended. I really don’t want to see this end.  I loved Kash and Bailey’s story but want so more. Even if it is to see what rolls the siblings have within the family.

#AudioReview – Jonah Bennett: A Bennett Mafia Novella (1001 Dark Nights) By: Tijan –Narrators Benjamin Charles and Holly Warren

Jonah Bennett: A Bennett Mafia Novella (1001 Dark Nights)

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tijan comes a new story in her Bennett Mafia universe…

Jonah Bennett wasn’t like his family. The mafia business was firmly what his brothers did, not him.

That changed the day a rival family killed his fiancée.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased the audio book from Audible.

I enjoyed this Mafia story of Tijan as much as her other books. Benjamin Charles and Holly Warren did a great job of narrating this story.  They both kept the story moving and flowing well.

Jonah Bennett was in the business of saving lives not his family business but that changed the day he watched his fiancée get gunned down right in front of him. Since someone targeted Jonah he has to decide if he is going to keep avoiding the protection of his family or accept who he is and embrace the family. This one had my emotions all over with the suspense and ups and downs.

If you like suspense and action-packed story this is a great one.  The connection and chemistry between Jonah and Carson were great. I also liked reading about the Bennett family especially Kai and Brooke. I will be going back and reading about Kai. I truly need more of this family.

Its that time again we closed the door on 2021 and starting 2022.  My 2021 was a little crazy and I didn’t get as much reading in as I would have liked. It is hard to escape into books when things in real life are crashing around you. So instead of giving you my top 5 for June through December I decided to post a few of my favorites that I read this year.

#AudioReview – Ryan’s Bed by: Tijan Narrator: Therese Plummer

Ryan's Bed

I crawled into Ryan Jensen’s bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister’s bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should’ve left…

I didn’t.
I didn’t jump out.
I didn’t get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could’ve stayed forever, I would have.
He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

Goodreads

Review by Twinsie Melinda

I purchased this Audio.

I enjoy listening Theresa Plummer narrating this story. She does a great job with both male and female voices. I was able to tell which female and which male was talking. She really kept me engaged in the story. Tijan has an amazing way of writing a story that guts you and puts you back together along the way.

Mackenzie finds her twin on the bathroom floor in a pool of her own blood. Her other half is gone and Mackenzie finds herself in a new house, a new town and currently a stranger’s home trying to deal with the biggest loss of her life. She somehow manages to find her way into the wrong room and wrong bed, Ryan’s bed, but to her this bed feels so right.
Mackenzie is trying to deal with the loss of her twin but she hears her and sees her and the only comfort she has is when Ryan is near. She is trying to get through everything day by day and dealing with a new school. I love that she still has spunk and does not back down when mean girls are around.

Ryan is drawn to Mac from the beginning he truly gets what she is going through and helps her the best he can. The chemistry between these two is explosive. Love how understanding, compassionate and loving he is toward Mac.
I like that we were placed in Mac’s head and learned so much about both her and Willow. Mac is strong female although she may not always believe it or fee it she is. I loved her spirit and tenacity. Takes a lot to over come what she did and be able to still standup for herself.

Very well written book for such a hard subject of teen suicide to tackle .

#REVIEW – Logan Kade by Tijan

You think you know me?
Manwhore. Partier. Fighter.
You know what? You’re right. I’m all those things. F*ck with mine and I’ll f*ck you ten times harder. Suspensions. Arrests. You think I care?

So yeah, I may fit the bad boy image, but there’s so much more you don’t know.

I’m loyal to a damned fault. I’ll never leave your side. The real Logan Kade isn’t a manwhore. When I love, I love hard and completely.

Taylor saw that side of me. Inside of me. She saw my darkness and pain, and the second she did, she owned me.

You may think you know me…
…but she’s the only one who sees me.

**Standalone for new readers, but does fit in the Fallen Crest Series between Fallen Crest University and Fallen Crest Home.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Holy crap on a cracker. I don’t even know where to begin! This book consumed me. From beginning to end, I was in love with all things Logan Kade. He’s been a favourite since the very first book in the Fallen Crest series but now that I got inside his head, he’s my number one.

Taylor Bruce reminds me of Sam so much. She’s strong, determined but broken and shattered in side. She loves with all of her, every single inch. She had a difficult past after being witness to a tragedy but she doesn’t let that get in the way of her loving hard and fierce. When she first stands beside Sam’s side, ready to fight, I knew she would be one of my favourite heroines. Tijan knows how to create a strong female, one we can all relate to. And while I may not be in college and a little older than these characters, they’ve become a part of me and my life. Every now and again, I’ll think of them and I know when the last book comes, I’ll be back to starting from the beginning. I will never get enough of these characters, this family.

Logan Kade is what I expected and more. Near the ending, my heart was breaking but I understood. I didn’t like it but I got it. I’m just glad that he finally pulled his crap together and went for his last girl. We’ve all seen his story, getting snippits here and there. He put on a good front with the women and alcohol but finding out about the real him, that’s what I enjoyed most. His humor, his quick wit and his sexiness, oozed off of the pages.

Taylor and Logan, along with Sam and Mason, are two of my favourite couples in romance.

Thank you Tijan for bringing us into this world.

Now onto Fallen Crest Home.

xx

#REVIEW – Fallen Crest Christmas by Tijan

This is a very very short novella consisting of one scene that has three parts, and an additional bonus scene. This was written to be a FREE gift to any Fallen Crest readers! And with that said, Happy Holidays from Tijan.

Twinsie Jo’s Review:

Although this story is super short, I find it necessary to read right after Fallen Crest University as there is some interaction between Sam and her mother. Also, if you’re like me, you’ll read anything Tijan publishes anyway.

This little novella takes place right after Fallen Crest University. Sam’s mother is back and wants to make everything right by her but of course, our Sam is leery as anyone would be in her situation. Mason and Logan are there for as always while she questions the return of her mother.

We also see a sneak peak into the next book, Logan Kade, and trust me when I say this, his story will be one I will never forget.

#REVIEW – Fallen Crest University (Fallen Crest Series Book 5) by Tijan

Fallen Crest is back with a vengeance!

Samantha, Mason, and Logan are all together and united with one common enemy: Park Sebastian, the king of fraternity douchebags.

With professional football scouts eyeing his every move, Mason Kade has to walk the line for the first time in his life. Any move he makes against Sebastian has to be perfect and under the radar. One mistake, and his career is over.

Sebastian has other plans. Mason’s career isn’t his target—not even close. Wanting to destroy Mason completely, Sebastian knows he must hit him where it hurts the most: Samantha, who doesn’t give a rat’s ass that she’s the target.

Sam is bound and determined to protect Mason herself, no matter the cost, but what if the cost is beyond her imagination? What if this time, the villain wins?

Twinise Jo’s Review:

Every time I read a book in this series, I fall more in love with these characters.

This book is the 5th in the Fallen Crest series and man, is it a doozy. All of the drama that these people go through makes me want to hug them even more. I often wonder to myself while reading these books is if this trio would let me into their little circle. Yes, I’m that type of reader. Lol!

Sam, Logan and Mason all try and protect each other from someone who is threatening to ruin them. Of course when it comes to Mason, the only way to destroy him is through Logan or Sam.

At one point, I wasn’t sure if Mason and Sam would be able to move past the lies and heartache that is caused. Both of them trying to protect each other causes a strain on their relationship and when Mason gets upset, it makes me nervous. Tijan has a way with words and forcing you to feel the emotions that the characters go through.

One of my favourite things about this series is the loyalty Mason, Logan and Sam have to each other. I also love how strong Sam is with and without Mason. She is my favourite heroine out of any book I have ever read and I’ll be sad to see their story finish. But I get it…I just don’t have to like it. Lol!

I do suggest reading this series from the beginning but trust me, it will be worth it.

Tijan never disappoints and I can wait to read the rest of this series!!

Blurb

He told me to ‘settle, girl.’
He asked if ‘something was wrong with me?’
He said I was an ‘easy target.’
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.

He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.

Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.

I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what would happen if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?

Jo’s Review:

Tijan could write the phone book and I’d read it over and over again. Much like everything else she has written, Anti Stepbrother is filled with angst, love and bad boys. I’m a huge fan of her Fallen Crest series, Mason and Logan Kade being my favourite heroes of hers, but Caden comes in very close. Tattoos, arrogance, super Alpha? Hello! I love a hero who knows what he wants, WHO he wants and makes no apologies in going after it.

Anti Stepbrother is a new standalone romance and as usual, Tijan hits it out of the park with this one. Her books only keep getting better and better and I can’t wait to see what she has next in store for us.

Summer is simply adorable and someone who you can relate to and also become best friends with. She’s funny, random and perfect for Caden. She’s nothing like the previous women he has been with. When he needs her, she’s there for him. No matter what. He unfortunately has to deal with her step-brother. Kevin is a bit of a douche but does he come out in the end to right all the wrongs he did?

Summer also has to fight for herself because Kevin is her family. Girls are mean. People judge. But it only makes her stronger.

Summer and Caden become fast friends and fall for each other faster. It’s sweet, romantic, hot and filled with angst! I love this story and can’t wait for more from Tijan. xx

Excerpt

He wasn’t looking at me any more. I wasn’t even sure he was really in the room.

I needed to leave this alone. He had given me the clues—looking away, his jaw clenching, pain like I’d never heard from him sounding loud and clear. My instincts were telling me to shut up, but I couldn’t. I had this burning need to know more about Caden. I needed to get in there, past his walls, and I wanted to understand him.

I wanted to help him.

Caden was hurting, and I wanted to take that away.

“What happened?”

Caden turned his gaze to me now, and I felt branded by the pain I saw. His eyes were stricken. “Does it matter?”

“No.” My breath caught and held in my chest. I wanted to go to him, but I also wanted to slink away. I was stirring up his pain, but I had to know. “What happened, Caden?”

“Why do you have to know?”

“Because it’s hurting you.”

I made a decision, though I had no idea what the ramifications were going to be. I stood, my legs going numb and my stomach clenching, and I moved to his side. He leaned back, his head falling to the couch, and he watched me.

The need to ease some of his hurt outweighed the fear of what would happen next. Swallowing tightly, I stepped over to straddle him and sat down.

“What are you doing?”

He asked that softly, still holding his beer. I took it from his hands and put it on the stand next to the couch. Then I just sat there. He had to do the rest. I’d already made the first move.

I glanced down at his hands, feeling like an idiot. “What happened?”

“Why are you pushing this?”

I looked back up to find confusion warring with need in his eyes. He wasn’t pushing me away, so I sank further into his lap.

“You haven’t told anyone else about this.” It wasn’t really a question, but I saw the confirmation in his eyes. My chest tightened, thinking about whatever secret he held. “Please tell me.”

“No.” He shifted forward, and I braced myself, expecting him to push me away. He didn’t. His hands grasped the backs of my legs and lifted me so I was more fully on his lap.

I could feel him between my legs, and my breasts almost pressed against his chest. I waited. I wanted to see what else he’d say

“But not because I don’t want you to know,” he added. “Because it’s not my secret to tell.”

I nodded, my stomach doing somersaults now. “That makes sense. I can respect that.”

And there we were. His hands cupped my ass, and the pain in his gaze became something darker, something I felt too, something that began to turn off all rational thought.

“What are we doing here?” he questioned, his voice like a caress in itself.

I leaned forward, my gaze lingering on his lips. “I didn’t really think it through.”

“And now?”

“Still not thinking it through.”

“You’re okay with that?”

In that moment, the truth exploded in me. I wanted him. I wanted this—but it was more. I needed this.

I didn’t answer.

I closed the distance between us.

I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! Twinsie Jo’s Review

One of my favourite things about this series is watching the characters grow with each book. I feel like I know them and want to hug them every time something bad happens. These kids go through so much, it breaks my heart. The feels, the angst, the passion…it makes my heart skip a beat with every single word. I’ve devoured this series and I can’t wait for book 6. I do suggest starting from the very beginning so you get the full experience.

Sam is a powerful heroine. There’s just something about her that makes it easy to relate to. Even though she’s been through so much, she’s stronger because of it. She would do anything to protect Mason from Sebastian. The guy is a nob and wants to destroy her to get to the top. What better way to bring down the best then to go through the one he loves?

Mason. Kade. Two words people. Remember them. Every time I start one of these books, I get anxiety. I worry that something is going to happen to break them a part. Yes, that’s how invested in this series I am.

This series is amazing and I can’t wait for book 6!
